Oratorical Contest
There are a number of benefits for students competing in the annual Oratorical Contest on both the State and National level.
High school students under age 20 are eligible. Competition begins at the post level and advances to a state competition. Legion department representatives certify one winner per state to the national contest, where department winners compete against each other in two speaking rounds. The contest caps off with a final round that decides the three top finishers.
Your Unit can be a powerful voice for the Oratorical Contest. Finding ways to communicate with schools, educators, and youth groups in your community is a great place to start.
There are a number of resources and printable sheets on the national website to help you get started. It may take some time, but once you've found the right people to speak with, you'll find your reach expanding. Be sure to use Social Media too!
