Adopt -A-Vet Program
As the holiday season draws near, we’re reminded of the importance of giving back to
those who have given so much—our Veterans. At the Minnesota Veterans Homes in
Hastings and Minneapolis, we’re committed to ensuring that every Veteran in our
domiciliary program feels valued, supported, and honored during this special time of
year.
You can help us do this in two ways.
1.The Adopt -A-Vet Program is in annual event to give to our Veteran Residents in
our Hastings and Minneapolis Domiciliary locations for the Holiday’s. If you want to
be part of this program just respond to this letter with the number of veterans, you
wish to adopt. The donation amount for each resident is between fifty to one
hundred dollars each. The majority of our veterans request $50 gift cards to places
like Walmart and Amazon. You then shop, wrap and deliver the packages. They are
given to the veterans at our holiday party in December. We only ask that no
weapons or products containing alcohol be in the gifts. We do not open the gifts. If
you are interested just email me the number of veterans you want to adopt, and I
will send you out your names. I do not want to miss any Veteran Resident.
2.In addition to the Adopt-A-Vet program, we also raise money to be added to the
resident’s trust fund accounts as a gift for the holidays. We currently have 160
residents. So, if a donor or organization contributes $800, each resident would
receive $5 into the account. $1600 for $10 each and so on.
Please reach out me between now and Friday, November 15. Our goal is to have all
gifts delivered to the home by Friday, December 11.
