Each December, volunteers gather at cemeteries across the country to place fresh evergreen wreaths on veterans’ graves, ensuring their service and sacrifice are never forgotten. This moving tribute provides a moment of unity as communities come together to reflect on the price of freedom. Through this program, Auxiliary members, families, and community partners work side by side to sponsor wreaths, coordinate ceremonies, and share stories of service. Every wreath placed represents a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, reminding us all that veterans deserve to be remembered not just on Memorial Day or Veterans Day, but throughout the year. Learn how you can become a member of The American Legion Auxiliary as a descedant of members and or those who have served. Join The American Legion Auxiliary today! Membership in The American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to the: Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion; and Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who served in either of the following periods: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918 and any time after December 7, 1941 who, being a citizen of the United States at the time of their entry therein served on active duty in the Armed Forces of any of the governments associated with the United States during either eligibility periods and died in the line of duty or after honorable discharge; Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who were in the Armed Forces of the United States during either of the following periods: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941 who served on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States during either eligibility periods and died in the line of duty or after honorable discharge; and to those women who of their own right are eligible for membership in The American Legion. * Male spouses are now eligible to join the Auxiliary! * A woman who is eligible for American Legion membership is eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary regardless of whether or not she is a member of The American Legion. However, eligibility of her female relatives (sister, mother, direct descendants) and/or spouse depends upon her membership in The American Legion. Thousands of students participate in the program each year and help promote a lifelong respect of our flag and country. Students (grades 3 to 12) explore the fundamental rights and freedoms we enjoy today. Each year’s contest has a different theme; one student in each category per division is awarded a prize. There is a category for students with special needs. Current Essay Theme: “Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday and the Veterans who Fought for Our Freedom.” Contest Forms

Message from the President Ann Bovy Greetings Third District Auxiliary Members. My Name is Ann Bovy, and I was elected your 2025/2026 district president. I am very excited to work with the different units in our district this year. I hope we can come together and have some fun, a lot of laughs, and show support for our fellow veterans. I am planning two projects. The first is Hastings Veterans Home landscaping. I will be working with the Third District Honorary Junior President Mae; we will be creating a place where veterans can go to feel at peace. My second project is at St Peter Regional Treatment Center; they were asking for a frisbee golf course. I am working with Past Department President Darlene Wondra on both these projects. We will keep you posted on how we are doing. I would like to thank those units who have already donated to our project. I would also like to mention that if you would like me to visit your unit, please send me an email to let me know what the date and times are. I look forward to meeting the members of the Third District.
